Breaking out that birthday bow

Finally.
Just over a month ago Bryce turned four--and amoung his fantastic selection of birthday wonderment was a nifty big-boy bow. A little bit too big for him to use alone, but perfect for playing with Dad. So, yea for Byrce! Today just in the nick of daylight, we remembered that month-old present, collecting dust in the spare room.

Bryce displayed boatloads of patience, and carefully learned how to nock his arrow on (the proper string), how to pull back (the proper string), and then, of course, how to aim--but a bear is hard to miss, espcially when propped up by the basketball hoop.

Deacon cheerfully retrieved half the arrows, and Bryce delighted in retrieving the others and taking note of how close to the bear each had flown.

Good times, except Mommy dry-fired the bow and gave herself a nasty (not so little) welty-bruise that really should turn a glory of bruise-worthy colors to justify her brimming eyes (sometimes it is just too hard to be a good example of tough).

Only ten months til archery season!
