Drilling for Rocks

We celebrated August birthdays with Phil's side of the family on August 15th. Uncle Dale & Aunt Becky hosted all 21 of us for a delicious Mexican buffet, and when you throw in fantastic gifts, four desserts options, and an actual fridge on the deck--well it was lovely day and none of us ate dinner (but we did polish off the leftover cheese dip, because after all we are McMurrays).

The real party took place under the deck, where Uncle Dale's vast collection of old rocks, cement, and dirt kept Colton, Bryce and Deacon occupied for hours (the push bike and bubbles were also thoroughly enjoyed). Earlier in the day, Colton (who is three years older than Bryce) gave our boys some of his toys, including the battery powered drill featured above. I don't think that the batteries had ever been replaced before, but before the day was done, only pitiful hamster-like whirs could be heard. Very sad for our excavation team, but luckily they could ease their sorrows with cake and ice cream.
