Happy Birthday Grandma Greta!

Yesterday, we spent a lovely day with Grandma Greta to celebrate her 55th birthday. After a tour of his office (the boys loved all the animal carvings and wildlife paintings) Papa Glen treated all of us to a delicious lunch at the Sawtooth Grill (what a fantastic restaurant).

Papa Glen had to return to SCC, and Grandma Greta wanted to show the boys Manitou Park's Japanese Garden. The boys loved it! The koi were huge and swam up close to the bridge and walkways, and the ducks looked just like they do in Make Way for Ducklings. Phil showed the boys how to walk through the waterfall stream (and they kind of got it, but mostly delighted in soaking their shoes). I had a thousand heart attacks: Bryce climbed over a fence into a "no walk" area three times; he had one knee on top of the bridge before we noticed (I was too busy trying to focus the camera); they tried to reach in to touch fish, ducks and water; and top it all Deacon tried to jump off a boulder into the water.

We ended our visit with delicious home-grown, home-made peach pie. Grandma & Papa, dogs, toys, lunch, pie, park--what a great day with Grandma!
