Bryce was pelleted awake this morning (with balloons) and then sung a rather lively Happy Birthday duet before he was even out of bed; thankfully he and Deacon loved the silliness, and soon balloons were strewn across the house (which did lead to some accidental and rather surprising poppings). After a bowl of Cookie Crisp and then a bowl of Lucky Charms, Bryce dug into his kitchen table pile of presents--and luckily his one morning gift was a good one . . . the motorcycle toy, not the shoes.
For lunch he had requested pb&js. To step things up our lunch was followed by cake! And what a really unfortunate looking cake (Deacon thought the red gel icing was ketchup, and after the red gel melted and drooled down the yellow-frosted sides, Byrce stated, "this cake looks weird, but it smells good"). He opened nearly all the rest of his presents-pile right before cake, save the camo one. That was because I found out that he had some exacting expectations for the contents . . .
Bryce: "Mommy, can I open up my camo present first?"
Me: "Sure. How come?"
Bryce: "Because I'm a camo man."
So, the camo one was set aside for later(as it was the shoes), and Phil hurriedly scavenged Tri-State for a camo something. After dinner, Bryce (and Deacon) opened up camo--a jacket for each, and then I took them around the deck so Phil could bring out Bryce's big present. Perhaps we had as much fun anticipating Bryce's reaction to his red four-wheeler, as he and Deacon had riding it (for nearly over two hours) this evening.
Bryce is strong, and kind, and brave. He is considerate to me (official door opener, etc) and patient with his little brother (talk about sharing). He is funny, and silly in all the right ways (boy can that kid make me laugh). He is a hard worker and Phil loves having his help and commentary. Bryce is such a blessing to us--and our fun is still only beginning!

You can let Bryce know that Papa & Grandma are bringing lots of presents for him to tear open this evening.(We saw how good he is at getting the wrapping off on your birthday, Lauren.) We also have lots for Daddy Phil, something for Deacon & for you. See you soon, Mom & Glen
